Using MS Word 2010 as WordPress editor

If you are a blogger using WordPress, you probably had some fights with the build in editor. Using this building webgui editor can sometimes be a pain in the ass, especially when write posts with pictures. Since the release of MS Word 2007 you can use Word as an editor to write your blog posts. This guide will show you how to configure MS Word 2010 for using it with WordPress.

Configuration:

Go to “Save & Send” under the File menu, and click on “Publish as Blog Post”.

Create a new account by choosing “Register Now”.

Choose “WordPress” as your blog provider and press “Next”.

Fill in the right URL and Logon information and press “OK”.

Give your Post a title and write your item.

To publish your post as a draft, click on the arrow of the publish button and choose “Publish as Draft”.

Open your WordPress console and notice your published draft.

Troubleshooting:

You could get the following error message “Word cannot register your account” when creating a WordPress connection.

One of the common solutions is enabling XML-RPC Remote Publishing within WordPress. Logon as Admin and check if the following setting is enabled “Settings -> Writing -> Remote Publishing -> XML-RPC”.

Microsoft has release the beta versions of Office & Sharepoint 2010. Both are available on MSDN & Technet Plus right now. MS Office 2010 will become available in a x86 and x64 version. Sharepoint 2010 will be a x64 version only.

Microsoft is planning to release the MS Office 2010 products in the first half of next year (2010).
